LaKesha Womack
A Story Rooted in Service, Shaped by Community, and Driven by Purpose
LaKesha Womack’s journey to public service did not begin in the halls of power. Her story started in the small rural town of Evergreen, Alabama, where community was not just a word but a way of life. Growing up in a place where neighbors took care of one another, where hard work was expected, and where her mother taught her to dream bigger than her surroundings, LaKesha learned early the importance of service, responsibility, and access to education.
That belief deepened in high school when LaKesha participated in the Alabama Youth Legislature Program, a formative experience that awakened her passion for policymaking and civic leadership. As she drafted bills, debated ideas, and represented her peers, she saw firsthand how policy decisions shape real lives. That early exposure planted the seeds of a lifelong commitment to understanding — and improving — the systems that govern our communities. It was there that LaKesha first realized her voice and her ideas mattered, and that one day she wanted to help shape the laws that impact families like hers.
LaKesha’s educational journey took a transformative turn when she attended the Alabama School of Math and Science, a public, residential high school that brought together students from across the state. There, she saw the power of public education at its best — rigorous academics, innovative learning environments, and a diverse community united by curiosity and ambition. ASMS showed her what is possible when states invest in young people and give them access to opportunity regardless of their zip code. It strengthened her belief that every child deserves a world-class education and that public schools are essential to preparing informed, capable citizens for a thriving democracy.
Those values carried her from Alabama to Vanderbilt University, where she earned a degree in Political Science and began to understand how laws, policies, and institutions shape people’s lives. Today, as she pursues a Master of Legal Studies at Vanderbilt Law School, LaKesha is continuing that commitment — digging deeper into the systems that impact families, small businesses, and communities across the country.
But LaKesha’s passion for justice and opportunity has always been grounded in real-life work, not theory.
For more than two decades, she has built a career focused on helping people grow, lead, and succeed. As the Owner of Womack Consulting Group, she has guided small business owners, nonprofit leaders, faith communities, and entrepreneurs through their most significant challenges — offering strategic support, leadership development, brand management, and practical tools to turn their visions into reality. She built this firm from the ground up, one client at a time, with an unwavering belief in people’s potential.
That same belief has led her, as she serves entrepreneurs, to navigate balance sheets, business plans, income statements, and access to capital. She has sat at countless tables, talking with business owners about the dreams they were fighting to bring to life — and the barriers standing in their way. Those conversations shaped her understanding of economic mobility at its most human level.
Today, LaKesha serves as the Chief Strategy Officer for ASPIRE Community Capital, an emerging Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for undercapitalized entrepreneurs. In this role, she develops strategic direction, champions equitable access to capital, guides innovation, and builds partnerships that strengthen our communities' economic fabric. Her leadership in this arena earned her the prestigious Revvy Award as the Southeast Women in Fintech Champion. This recognition reflects her commitment to advancing financial inclusion and economic justice. Her work ensures that small businesses — the heartbeat of NC-14 — have the tools and support they need to thrive.
Her career also reflects a deep commitment to faith, leadership, and community transformation. Through #RethinkingChurch Strategies, Ministry Matters Media Services, and her service within the A.M.E. Zion Church, LaKesha has become a trusted voice and trainer for faith leaders navigating change, growth, and digital engagement. She has hosted national summits, led leadership workshops for churches and universities across the country, and championed the idea that faith communities are essential partners in advancing justice, equity, and hope.
But LaKesha’s leadership extends far beyond her professional roles. She has served on numerous boards — including Friends of Keep Charlotte Beautiful, Interfaith Action for Human Rights, Evergreen/Conecuh County Chamber of Commerce, and the Charlotte Business Inclusion Advisory Council — and has been selected for competitive leadership cohorts, fellowships, and civic engagement initiatives. Whether mentoring entrepreneurs through Goldman Sachs’ One Million Black Women program or supporting digital equity initiatives with the Black Churches 4 Digital Equity Fellowship, LaKesha consistently shows up where communities need her most.
Her expertise and passion have made her a sought-after speaker, facilitator, and commentator. She has delivered keynotes, moderated national panels, trained leaders at corporations and small businesses nationwide, and contributed to publications including Newsweek and Forbes. As co-host of The Politics of Jesus Podcast, she helps expand public understanding of the intersection between faith, justice, and democracy — always bringing her signature clarity, compassion, and conviction.
Throughout her life, one theme has remained constant: LaKesha deeply believes in people.
She believes in the single mother trying to build a better life.
She believes in the entrepreneur fighting for a chance.
She believes in the rural community fighting for resources.
She believes in the suburban family looking for stability and opportunity.
She believes in the student, the worker, the retiree, the believer, the neighbor.
And she believes that our government should believe in them, too.
That is why LaKesha is running for Congress — to bring the lived experiences of real people to the halls of power.
Her campaign is grounded in a simple but powerful promise:
Listening to you. Learning from you. Leading for you in Congress.
LaKesha Womack is ready to serve — with integrity, with courage, and with a heart rooted in community. And she is ready to fight for every family in North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District.
