Early Voting in North Carolina
Early voting is a convenient way to participate on your schedule. By voting early, you can avoid long lines and ensure your voice is heard. Make a plan, know your options, and take part during the early voting period.
What is early voting?
Early voting allows eligible voters to cast their ballot in person before Election Day during a designated early voting period.
Why vote early?
Voting early gives you flexibility, helps you avoid long lines, and ensures your voice is heard even if something unexpected comes up on Election Day.
Who can vote early?
Any eligible voter may vote during the early voting period—no special reason is required.
Where can I vote early?
Early voting locations vary by county. Check your local board of elections or official election website to find a location near you.
When does early voting take place?
Early voting runs from October 15 through October 31.
Election Day
The 2026 general election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Polling places will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Any voter in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. will be able to vote.
