Early Voting in North Carolina
Early voting is a convenient way to participate on your schedule. By voting early, you can avoid long lines and ensure your voice is heard. Make a plan, know your options, and take part during the early voting period.
What is early voting?
Early voting allows eligible voters to cast their ballot in person before Election Day during a designated early voting period.

Voting early gives you flexibility, helps you avoid long lines, and ensures your voice is heard even if something unexpected comes up on Election Day.
Who can vote early?
Any eligible voter may vote during the early voting period—no special reason is required.
Where can I vote early?
Early voting locations vary by county. Check your local board of elections or official election website to find a location near you.
When does early voting take place?
Early voting runs from Thursday, February 12 through February 28.

The Social Justice Ministry of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, along with Charlotte-area graduate chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® will host a non-partisan 2026 Primary Election Candidates’ Forum for all primary candidates for US Congress and NC General Assembly.
Primary Voting
The 2026 primary election is Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Polling places will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Any voter in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. will be able to vote.
